Every year, numerous logistics technologies are tested to facilitate the steps and methods of an area as complex as this. After all, the supply chain is extensive, and tools that make it easier to do all of their processes are undoubtedly very welcome.
So, if you are from the logistics sector, cheer up! 2020 is around the corner and, with it, some technology news promises to add efficiency and optimize the time in some daily tasks and procedures.

Logistics technology and the 2020 trends
This technology has already been tested: a few years ago, Amazon created a service called Prime Air Amazon. Its mains goal was to deliver products weighing up to 2.2 kg with drones. In 2016, the first project test happened, and the time between inserting the order and the delivery was 13 minutes.
Although it is being used since 2016, we know that in logistics, most technologies take time to be put into practice and adopted in the market, right? Therefore, it is expected that in 2020, the implementation of drones delivery in the chain will begin to be implemented.
The main advantage of this model is the low operating cost since it does not have the same expenses with fuel, as it happens in vehicles. Besides, it is an excellent way to ship products that need to arrive quickly, because the drone is very agile.
The stand-alone truck uses technologies similar to the self-driven Google cars to travel without a driver. But, how does it work? Two monitoring radars are installed in the upper part of the vehicle to have real-time control of their speed. This way, it can act quickly on any adversities on the highway, since it also controls their brakes.
One of the companies that already tested the technology was AB InBev, which crossed 190km, with 50,000 cans of beer in an autonomous way. According to the company, the cost savings can reach US$ 50 million per year in the United States if it were possible to use the vehicle in the distribution network (even if drivers have to track them and supplement all that technology).
The economy is achieved through a decrease in fuel costs, less wear of parts, and a reduction in environmental impact.
Radio Frequency Tracking
Although it is common in some companies, we can not forget to put radio frequency tracking as one of the trends in logistics technology for 2020.
This tracking system works by sending radio signals. Because of this characteristic, it is possible to monitor the movement of a fleet in closed places, such as tunnels and subsoils. Also, unlike satellite tracking, radio signals are not interfered with by signal inhibitors. In this way, the manager of a fleet suffers less with the signal oscillations and can have a good notion of all the system.
Surely you may have heard about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how much it has been tested. These robotic systems have been developed to recreate human reasoning ability so they can make assertive decisions and analyze data.
In addition, they can work with a much larger amount of information since they use advanced management software. For this reason, AI is one of the best logistics technology in 2020. Do you want to know why? AI makes possible to control and manage the supply chain in a fast, efficient, and systemic way.
The term “Internet of Things” (IoT) describes the large and ever-growing set of digital devices – now in the billions – that operate between networks of potentially global scale. Unlike the normal Internet (of people), the IoT is composed only of sensors and other intelligent devices.
By connecting devices and machines to centralized management systems, IoT works by exchanging data between various machines and operating systems. That makes it easier, for example, to control deliveries in the logistics area.
Good logistics technology and the right marketing to increase your sales
It is no use investing in technologies to streamline your processes if you do not know how to sell them to the public. The ideal, in fact, is that your company feeds the deployment and investment in new machines and methods while it releases them to the public.
For example: adopting the drone delivery system is a great differential! So put on your website and channels that your company invests in modern technologies and therefore, customers should choose it.
